Mangling Audio Settings

What did you do?

I was listening to an audio stream on VLC and switched to (or started) F-Droid for regular updates

What did you expect to see?

the stream should continue to play at the set volume, as it did with previous versions of F-Droid. I run audio streaming on the phone at almost all times and I am reasonably confident that this issue was not present with the previous version of F-Droid.

What did you see instead?

the volume changed. this is particularly annoying, possibly dangerous, when the change is a significant increase in volume and the audio is routed to bluetooth headset
