App update notification stuck on "installing" or stuck at 100% and does not open F-Droid
- Device OS and version: Android 12
- Device model/manufacturer: Samsung Galaxy Note10+
- F-Droid version (in the About screen): 1.15.4
- F-Droid privileged extension version (if installed): N/A
What did you do? (clear steps if possible)
- Wait for an app update to be available
- Eventually notice notification "Installing AppName..."
- Notice that progress bar is either a looping animation or a full progress bar (as if 100%). Unsure/don't remember if eventually the looping version changes to the full version...
- Notice that the notification stays the same all day long, looping or full
- Tap the notification
- Notice nothing happens: F-Droid does not open and the notification is not dismissed.
-
- If I open F-Droid from the launcher and go to the Updates tab, the update is completely downloaded and has an "UPDATE" button
- tapping UPDATE activates the system APK installer as expected.
- the notification from F-Droid gets dismissed/is gone afterward, as expected
- If I wait for 24+ hours (estimated), at least sometimes the notification will change to say the update has been downloaded, tap to install... or similar.
- tapping this notification works as expected IIRC
- If I open F-Droid from the launcher and go to the Updates tab, the update is completely downloaded and has an "UPDATE" button
What did you expect to see?
- During download, have notification interactive, with tapping opening to F-Droid updates tab.
-
- Notification not say "installing", since F-Droid can't do that without me at present;
- The notification to INSTALL as soon as the update(s) are downloaded, and have it interactive as in scenario 7.b. in Steps — and not have to wait 24+ hours for that.
What did you see instead?
As described in Steps 2-on (stalled notification with either installing animated bar or a full progress bar).
