network access via gnirehtet does not work

  • Device OS and version: Fairphone Open 19.11.2
  • Device model/manufacturer: Fairphone 2
  • F-Droid version (in the About screen): 1.10
  • F-Droid privileged extension version (if installed): 0.2.8

What did you do? (clear steps if possible)

I'm using (gnirehtet)[https://github.com/Genymobile/gnirehtet/] to provide internet access via reverse tethering to my mobile. I wanted to update the repositories.

What did you expect to see?

I expected the update of the repository, independently from my network settings regarding mobile networks or wifi networks (as gnirehtet uses an Ethernet like connection via the USB cable).

What did you see instead?

Instead I got an error message that wifi/mobile network settings prevent all updates.
