list apps installed via f droid or play store and facilitate switching
- Device OS and version: android 8
- Device model/manufacturer: samsung non rooted
- F-Droid version (in the About screen): 1.7.1
- F-Droid privileged extension version (if installed): n/a
I am not a developer and have just barely sufficient nerdiness to be posting here. I don't know if this request is possible or in line with the goals of the project but I thought I would throw it in. This is related to #2027 (closed) which is the primary reason I ended up here.
It would be extremely helpful if there was a convenient way to do the following (in order of decreasing importance)
-
list installed apps groups by how they were installed (e.g. via play store or f droid) The information seems to be available on a per-app basis via the OS but there is not a way to see it in one place
-
when an app is available in a different source, show that. So for instance if I have telegram installed via play store it show ups in the list indicating it could be installed via f droid instead
-
display information about versions available in either source. I am not sure if this is relevant or not. I don't know if app devs update all sources at the same time or if one source could be behind. If so that would be important to know.
-
provide an easy way to uninstall from one source and reinstall with the other. I have absolutely no idea if this is even possible but it certainly would be convenient. Should warn about backing up user data etc assuming this cannot be done automagically.
In my case I am unfortunately looking to move away from f droid and back to play store because of #2027 (closed). However this feature also would have been extremely helpful to me when I was initially getting f droid. I think more often people would use it that way.
thanks for your time to read this.
