ensure new Permissions are always shown
One of my big problems with Android, and the Play Store specifically, is how users are notified of new permissions (basically, they have to perform multiple annoying steps to see what permissions are used and, more importantly, what new permissions are added in an update, and Google keeps making it harder and harder to do so), and I'd really like to see this handled better in F-Droid, as it should hold itself to a higher standard. However, currently, it doesn't warn about new permissions when downloading or installing an update, and the only way to see if any have been added is to scroll down and tap on permissions, and even then the "NEW" tag blends in as it's not a different color or anything.
So I would suggest a few things: make new permissions red, display them (or at least the fact that there are new permissions, perhaps as a warning that's also a direct link to the permissions) under an app's name in the update list, and, if possible, implement a requirement for new permissions to be explained. I'm always having to contact developers to ask why permissions have been added and, again, I would like to think developers whose apps are on F-Droid would hold themselves to a higher standard and take the initiative to do this, but F-Droid could enforce it by requiring them to fill out an explanation whenever there are new permissions, which would be displayed in the app's details. Which brings me to the fact that the latest version of F-Droid has added storage (read & write) and "modify system settings" permissions, and so it would be nice to know why.
