make F-Droid Launcher that blends installing/managing apps with opening/running apps

I know this has been discussed at length before: #840 (closed) and maybe others.

Before the update to the new UI I basically used F-Droid as my application launcher. Why? Because it also showed useful information for each app which I want to access occasionally, not only when installing and uninstalling apps.

  • Current version number and last updated date
  • Link to changelog and issue tracker when something breaks and you want to report a problem
  • App description and link to homepage which often provides ducomentation on how to use the app
  • Uninstall button

Some of those are available from the phones launcher but you have to drag the app somewhere for getting this information or triggering a uninstall.

Also the real launcher has all those stock apps which I never touch, these are not shown in F-Droid.

The updates tab is mostly very empty, except every few days where it might show updates for a few apps.

What about keeping the updates tab but additionally showing the installed apps list below the current apps that need an update. Maybe they can be shown in a slightly de-emphasized way such that the attention is drawn to the apps needing your attention.
