request sponsored hosting from various hosting companies

@tomreyn said:

I know everyone is short of time, but there are a bunch of companies who do hosting and supprot open source projects, and would be willing to offer serives to more projects if they just ask, and are happy to place a logo on their website in return. I'd just ask them all, hetzner, ovh germany, rackspace, gandi. and a lot more. You will need to contact the companies directly. first by pohone to find out who handles such requests, or whether they dont do it in general, then by email, targetted to the person who handles them. Right, you need to explain what your project is, what it achieves, what you need from them, and what you are willing to do in return. How to identify potential sponsors: check for company logos on websites of large open source projects, or open source projects doing similar work to yours (i.e lineageos, microg), and talk to these people, too. I'm offering some of my time to identify contacts and - if you like - send sponsorship requests in the name of this project. we can draft these e-mails in advance so it's clear what will be offered and what will be requested. I'm surprised you haven't done this, yet, it's worth it. even with our small and not attractive 'megaglest' project (most companies are not very happy to sponsor gaming projects), we got some offers. And f-droid is a lot more relevant, and known, too. so... let's do both.
