choosing 3-5 board members for Commons Conservancy
We need three to five people to serve as board members of our Commons Conservancy. These people should be separate from F-Droid contributors, but understand the community and share our goals. This is something that would mostly require a couple hours a month, unless there are problems. Examples of good candidates are:
- A very active user who is not official contributor
- A free software activist
- An academic involved in ethical software review
- A person well versed in community-run projects
If you know someone who you think should be a board member, please ask them if they are interested. If they are interested, please propose them in a comment in this issue.
@All
Here is a general idea of what board members in F-Droid will do:
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the organization’s purpose
- Stay up-to-date on issues that affect free software on mobile devices
- Prepare for meetings by reading relevant agendas, issues, threads, etc.
- Regularly attend board meetings
- Actively participate in board meetings by contributing skills and knowledge
- Ask for clarification or additional information when necessary
- Monitor and understand the organization’s financial health
- Avoid any conflicts of interest
- Understand and uphold confidentiality agreements
- Assure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
