Possible bug in displayname cache for remote rooms
Testing with Heisenbridge the following bug came up: https://github.com/hifi/heisenbridge/issues/196
It seems like there is the intentional behavior that when users join on the primary address of a plumbed room the regular display names are shown on IRC, i.e. regardless of their homeserver you always get nice short display names. Like @myname:matrix.org is just shown as myName/m
However when plumbing a room that has the primary address on a remote matrix homeserver this changes and the very same users become something like myNamematrixorg/m.
According to the Heisenbridge developer it works with Synapse, so this might be a Conduit bug:
If you don't use Synapse that is likely a bug in the homeserver or somewhere in the Heisenbridge displayname cache. If displaynames are enabled in a plumb it only falls back to MXID if it can't find a better name.
Thanks for looking into it.
