Opt-in data collection (telemetry)

Background

With very little understanding of how users are interacting with our desktop extension, it is nearly impossible to know how and what to improve, and how to assign priority to features.

Goal

• Get an understanding of how users are interacting with the extension and its features.

What to do

Implement Opt-in telemtry feature as specified in eyeo/specs/spec!211.

Note

• Matomo has been recommended since it has been already been approved for use on our websites, is open source and has a clear dashboard to easily interpret data.
