Proposal for Monster Points
Monster Points has been the oldest feature in The Mana World.
The first commit in our github, by bjorn, already included it. And I'm planning in filling Candor placeholders soon. So, this is my idea for Aidan and Ishi:
- Aidan: "Have you heard about us, the monster hunting association?"
If player answers "Yes", it'll say:
Aidan: So, the rules have changed! Previously, you could get monster points from any monster you killed. Well, no longer!
Aidan: You will now accept tasks for specific monsters. These tasks can be obtained with me, or with other monster hunter association members.
Aidan: You can also request a different monster every day!
Ishi: Also, claiming rewards has changed! Before, you would get something random. No longer!
Ishi: You will now be able to use these monster points as a shop system, and pick out only what you want.\
The "bounty" could be either player-based with a limit (eg. kill 100 Snakes) or global-based without limit (so the server would decide the "monster of the day", making players share the same goals and crowding up the featured monster spawn points. Which helps for MMO interaction.)
As a side note, I believe we should change event running rules if we haven't done so already, so associated events are run against whoever did most damage, instead of the last person to hit the monster.
Please discuss.
