**Description of problem:**
Entangle currently lists the Adwaita GTK theme as an explicit dependency. Since GTK already depends on Adwaita this is potentially redundant.
If I'm not mistaken, Entangle uses Adwaita icons through GTK functions (and not explicitly), so if GTK were to change the default icon set, Entangle would get new icons while still listing Adwaita dependency. So the question is if it should be an explicit dependency at all?https://gitlab.com/entangle/entangle/-/issues/68Feature request: comunication with anoter apps (entangle virtual cam?)2022-03-29T12:27:49ZCharlie Martínez (Quirinux GNU/Linux)cmartinez@quirinux.orgFeature request: comunication with anoter apps (entangle virtual cam?)Hello: I don't know if this is the right place for feature requests, if not, I'd appreciate it if you point me to the right place and I'll post my concern there.

There are stop motion applications like [**Tahoma 2D**](https://github.com/tahoma2d/tahoma2d) and [**TupiTube Desk**](https://github.com/xtingray/tupitube.desk) that currently only support _webcams_. Although it is possible to use a DSLR as a webcam in these softwares through gphoto2, from console commands, we cannot take photos from the camera itself, nor control all those aspects that we can in Entangle.
It would be great to be able to connect Entangle, in some way, with other applications, ~~to use all these features~~. Generate a kind of _bridge _with which the other applications can see Entangle as if it were a _webcam_, and we can control the camera parameters from Entangle and send these photographs to the timelines of the animation programs.

Camera model: All
I would like to request a feature save interface settings across restarts. Allow the user to set the camera options and preset things like white balance, artist name, capture numbering and titling, and even which camera options are displayed according to personal preference.
As the program is now, it always opens with the same default settings and the same camera options displayed, feature request is to be able to change/save the interface settings according to the individuals preferences so they can be loaded back into the program.

(~ Entangle, action failed, life preview can't be shown: turning on Nikon LiveView failed (0x2002: PTP general error)) - my translation
- I cannot return to live preview and I cannot reattach to a session.
- I have to turn off the camera, exit from entangle, turn on the camera again, start entangle for it to work again.
What I do to avoid this: I use live preview to set things up, then turn it off, before I take the picture. Then I (manually) turn it on again. **Camera model:** (Nikon, Canon ... )
**Description of problem:**
2020 has seen more use of DSLRs as webcams ... On Windows the main camera vendors have provided tools that basically feed the DSLR liveview streams into a virtual webcam.
On Linux this is also possible , and people do shell things like:
sudo modprobe v4l2loopback exclusive_caps=1 card_label="GPhoto2 Webcam"
device=`v4l2-ctl --list-devices | while read header; do echo $header | grep v4l2loopback > /dev/null && read device && echo $device ; done`
gphoto2 --stdout --capture-movie | ffmpeg -i - -vcodec rawvideo -pix_fmt yuv420p -threads 0 -f v4l2 $device
What using the gphoto2 command line lacks is the camera control....
So having a tool that can
- pipe through the preview jpeg frames from the camera to v4l2loopback device
- but allow camera control same was as entnagle controls it already
would be a nice feature. One could avoid above ffmpeg conversion step even, if you can covnert jpeg directly to yuv420 or so

**Camera model:** Canon PowerShot G10
**Description of problem:**
("config" here refers to what gphoto2 calls config, so a "a key in the list of camera setting in Entangle" probably.)
The G10 has a config called "capture" (bool) that enables or disables the camera, when this config is enabled it also adds a bunch of config to the list of available configs.
This change is not detected by Entangle and one has to restart the program or reconnect the camera to get all the configs.
My suggestion would be to set capture to 1 before getting the camera configs (but this could be unwanted).
The camera also has a config called "Canon Shooting Mode" which changes a bunch of configs readonly state.
But this change is also not detected and needs a restart or reconnect.
So I guess it is needed to continuously look for such changes?
Some hopefully helpful info:
```
Description of problem:
The keyboard shortcuts for focus in(large step) and focus out(large step) are wrong in the keyboard shortcuts pop-up window.
How reproducible:
Every time
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Entangle
2. Click the shuttered icon to the left of minimise icon(-),
3. Select Help -> Keyboard shortcuts
Actual results:
Focus in(large step) keyboard shortcut is shown as "<", focus out(large step) is shown as ">".
Expected results:
1. The 'focus in(large step)' keyboard shortcut should be ">" in fact, as the counterpart shortcut 'focus in(small step)s' is ".".
Because in real operation, the lens focusing ring rotates at the same direction when press "." and ">".
2. The 'focus out(large step)' keyboard shortcut should be "<", as focus out(small step)s' is ",".
In real operation, the lens focusing ring rotates at the same direction when press "," and "<".
Additional info:
The problem is found on **version 2.0 in Fedora 32**.
According to the source string in upstream site, this problem may exist on **version 3.0** and later too.
The following file should be modified to fix this.
https://gitlab.com/entangle/entangle/-/blob/v3.0/src/frontend/entangle-help-overlay.ui
I think exchange the property values in line 161 and 168 would fix the problem.
¨belegt¨ means occupied.
And I cannot use the camera any more until turning it off and back on again, reconnecting alone will not do. So I have to turn off live preview before taking the photo and manually turn it back on. This is possible, but time-consuming and obviously not ideal. I did not get this behaviour prior to the 3.0 update.
Any idea what I can do?
V4l supports mjpeg. So all this requires (after opening the v4lloopback file and configuring it with `ioctrl()`) is to write the jpeg of each preview frame to the file.
I'd be interested in implementing this. But what would be the best way to go about doing this? I presume the plugin API, as currently designed, wouldn't provide access each preview frame like this?
