whats the best way to start this?

I saw that theres a service file in /etc/sv/ to I symlinked it into /var/service but it does not seem to spawn onto my system tray.
I open a terminal and run it, it works fine. Whats gives here?

I am launching dwm (systray patch applied) via xinit, should I be using a display manager instead?
