Update development documentation to cover working with a clone of drutopia_dev_template
Current documentation suggests starting with composer create-project
but drutopia_dev_template
is probably best used beginning with a git clone instead as it may be necessary to pull changes such as when a new Drutopia feature is added to the drutopia_dev_template
composer.json
file.
Draft documentation
To create the site
Note: rather than the below, we probably just need to pass --keep-vcs
with the composer create-project
command.
- Clone the
drutopia_dev_template
repository. You can give the resulting directory any name you like. Example:git clone git@gitlab.com:drutopia/drutopia_dev_template.git my_directory
- Enter the directory you created. Example:
cd my_directory
- Install with Composer:
composer install
- Install the Drupal site using whatever development environment you're using
To fetch updates
- Enter the directory you created. Example:
cd my_directory
- Pull in any changes:
git pull
- Update with Composer:
composer update
- If you wish to keep using an existing site, run any database updates and import any configuration changes that may come with new versions of modules
drush updb -y
- Log into the site and manually run Distribution Update
- If you wish instead to reinstall:
drush si drutopia
