Write Paraview and QGIS acceptable (netcdf) files
Reading model output and then dumping it into a netcdf does not lead to files that are gladly accepted by ParaView and QGIS.
This is primarily a matter of setting the right metadata, if I understand correctly.
I guess this would look like a module called imod.visualize.write
, with two functions such as to_paraview_netcdf()
and to_qgis_netcdf()
.
Another options is to vtk or (binary) tecplot, which are, if I understand correctly again, are essentially a matter of generating arrays of coordinates, and then dumping the numpy arrays into a file. Slight complication might be writing one chunk at a time, and sorting the chunks -- if that's necessary at all.
Joeri, maybe you can share a snippet of what you're doing to write for paraview? https://gitlab.com/deltares/imod/imod-python/snippets
