Mac Addressbook Images pile up

After trying to use davical carddav support for some two year now (which never worked properly since I always got a triangle error message on my addressbook) i started debugging to day. I upgraded the software to the latest gitlab version and tried to access my account again. It gave different error messages e.g. CoreDavErrorDomain Error 1 or [NSInvalidArgumentException] - [CoreDAVNullParser rootElement]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x60000002090b0.

Then I looked into ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/AddressBook/Sources//Images and found over 100000 image files in there. In words "more than one hundred thousand images" - and that's for some 600 entries in my addressbook.

I will now try to put these contents at the side and grab all data anew from the server trying to merge changes manually. The image pile up is a big bummer since I see no chance sorting this mess up manually.
