Replace labels' colored backgrounds with colored icons. This should make
it clearer which list item is selected on a variety of platforms.
Replace getters/setters with properties to be more pythonistic.
Move ``add_dots_to_scene`` function to within the ``update_scene``
function due to the latter being the only one that uses it.
