The prototype should have game map, symbols/basic shapes to represent objects/NPCs/Avatar (no need for actual models, you may show some concept arts for the models), core mechanic/action, algorithms/methods for the chosen tech aspect. It is good to see a playebale version, though it is not mandatory for prototype phase.
