As a Metadata Plus user, I'd like a way to retrieve metadata for a journal that has changed titles and ISSNs throughout its history
DeepDyve, one of our Metadata Plus users, has requested the ability to retrieve ALL works for a journal that has had its title and ISSNs updated in its history.
Here's the example we were discussing (Zendesk 390108):
BMJ evidence-based medicine (ISSNs 2515446X,25154478) https://data.crossref.org/depositorreport?pubid=J311949
Evidence-Based Medicine (ISSNs 13565524,14736810) https://data.crossref.org/depositorreport?pubid=J5595
At some point in the past, BMJ updated the title of this journal. From BMJ's perspective and the perspective of metadata users, this is the same journal. According to our records and the ISSN Centre's guidance on this, these are distinct journals, since the titles and ISSNs used are distinct. DeepDyve is enquiring about creating relationships (or other mechanisms) in our metadata to link the journal-title-level records in order to retrieve ALL historical works.
How urgent
Low urgency, albeit several metadata users would appreciate this request.
