Feature Request: Crossmark button should dynamically change to reflect update status

As a Crossmark User I want the Crossmark button to change visually to reflect the update status because it would allow me to know whether an item was up-to-date or not before clicking on the button.

I also still think that it would be of very high value for the Crossmark logo to dynamically change when there are updates available. Years ago, it was said that bandwidth prevented this - is this still true?
