Metadata Manager users' deposit carts are freezing (not loading contents of cart) when trying to load the deposit cart

are not loading the deposits within the deposit cart. The deposit cart currently shows a range of articles for these users ready for deposit (from one to ~100 articles), but when loading the contents of the deposit cart, Metadata Manager drops the session or freezes without loading the deposit cart. I can add articles, thus increasing the number of articles displayed in the cart, but still get the same behavior after doing so - the deposit cart drops the session. More details added for each affected user in the comments below.
