ORCID user gets error when trying to grant Crossref permission via Autoupdate
Background
When we see an ORCID in a metadata deposit and we do not have permission to autoupdate that ORCID profile we send a permission request via the user's ORCID inbox. The user sees a button to Grant permission
. When clicked, the user should see a success message.
Observed behavior
ORCID support has notified us of an ORCID user that sees an error when trying to grant Crossref permission to update the ORCID profile via Autoupdate request
Zendesk 400810.
ORCID iD: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2983-7504 DOI: 10.3390/pharmaceutics13111857
However, it appears that the ORCID was originally provided when the work was registered

So we would have sent the request, but then probably removed it after the resubmission by the publisher.
So, the error could be because they are attempting to respond to a request that we have deleted from our system?
Expected behavior
comment: # (What did you expect to happen before you observed the anomalous behavior?
Better error handling.
How urgent
This is the first case we have seen of this error, so not urgent. Given we recently made an update to remove claims/requests when an ORCID is removed by a member and before permission has been granted, we might see more of this kind of error, so should be alert to that.
