Netty Issues
I am running crafty controller on a linux based hypervisor (Proxmox) inside of an LXC container. It is running as a service. I am currently trying to run the Prominence II RPG modpack. I downloaded the modpack, unpacked all the files, ran the server with the provided shell script and then stopped and pointed Crafty to the server jar.
When I first started the server, I kept running into the same Netty error every 30 seconds. This was the following error:
16:48:59] [Netty Epoll Acceptor IO Thread/ERROR]: Exception occurred in netty pipeline
io.netty.channel.unix.Errors$NativeIoException: recvAddress(..) failed: Connection reset by peer
After some research, I learned that this error was being caused by Crafty trying to connect to the server IP and port for stats. Changing the "server IP" setting in the Crafty config, seemed to fix (or at least work around) this problem, while also meaning that Crafty was no longer able to see what the server version or MOTD was. As a side note, this error did not cause any connection issues for the players, but would clog up the log and increase resource usage.
Now for the current problem: I had originally set the server IP setting to some internal unused IP address. Then, every once in a while, I would get the following error and be kicked out of the server:
[07:14:07] [Netty Epoll Server IO #5/ERROR]: Exception occurred in netty pipeline
io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException: null
Interestingly, I would be the only person that got kicked out (the Crafty controller is running in my house). I thought maybe that using an unused IP address was causing an issue, so I changed it to a used one. Same problem. Then I tried changing it to 1.1.1.1 just to see if using an external IP address would change anything. It didn't.
I have no idea where these errors are coming from but it is making it almost unplayable, since sometimes I will get kicked immediately, and other times it will take 5-10 minutes. Please help.
