Temp problem with multiple GPU setup
Bug
Summary
Environment
- CoolerControl version:
0.15.0 - Installation method:
deb - Distribution name and version:
Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS - Desktop:
KDE - Cooling device model(s):
Corsair h150i rgb pro xt - GPU Nvidia RTX 4090 FE
- nvidia-driver-525 (proprietary)
- NVIDIA-SMI 525.105.17 Driver Version: 525.105.17 CUDA Version: 12.0
Steps to reproduce
- step 1: run luxmark benchmark
- step 2: monitor GPU temp in CoolerControl and nvidia-smi
- step 3: while nvidia temperature rise up the one that coolercontrol reads stays stable!
NB: The custom speed profile is controlled by the GPU Temperature of the Nvidia GPU.
As you can see from the screenshot:
- while the GPU temp in CoolerControl stays below 25 degree
- the nvidia-smi tool read a temperature of 36 degree in one case and 52 degree in the other screen shot
I'm not an expert but isn't it a potential risk ? Because GPU fans do not spin faster (stays at 30% selected by a custom speed profile). Is there something I have to do to better setup my system? Thanks - CoolerControl is super!
