suggestion: "nitpick" is a fairly gross concept - what about quibble instead?

Nitpicking literally means "to remove lice eggs from a person's hair"! Lice are still a thing in many parts of the world, even the poorer parts of the developed world.

This isn't a correctness thing, I hasten to add - it just sounds nasty once you know what it is and it personally grosses me out. 🙃

What about quibble, "a slight objection or criticism over a trivial matter"?
