Coordination with Blacksburg GIS project
The town GIS department, including the GIS Coordinator Katherine Smith and intern Amelia have been working on an ESRI story map (unbeknownst previously to the Frog group). Here is an email from Ms. Smith with a link and info:
Here is the link for the story map. https://arcg.is/0TT1bX, This link can be embedded in a website and can be enhanced. The other story map we did was of the historic walking tour where we actually used video feeds for each stop. http://www.blacksburg.gov/community/arts-and-culture/blacksburg-museum-and-cultural-foundation I was talking to Chip on how we might write a little script to go along with each frog. The application will work on a smartphone too and with enabled GPS will help with navigating. We still have some work to do on this and any input is welcome. Amelia is great to work with and this is one of those project that is fun to do.
I think on a cursory glance from our perspective, the ESRI story maps probably didn't provide enough control to meet all of the desires and ideas (current and future) of the what the 16 Frogs group had in mind. However, given the work that has already been done, we should probably revisit that idea.
