verbosity:verbose in notify cause the job to loop

Issue Background

Setting verbosity:verbose causes the job to not complete

Issue description

Even a cancel of the job fails to cause the job to exit. New submissions then get queued and never run, only a reboot of the VM clears the problem (and the vagrant halt has to do a forced shutdown)

Acceptance criteria

When the problem has been solved - verbose jobs successfully report or it has been identified as a lava bug and reported upstream.
