July Open Data Update
Since we released our code and data in April, there have been a number of changes to the way we construct the data used to value property. We would like to update the data published on Cook County Open Data. Please complete the following tasks:
-
In the Residential rep, in data_dictionary_constituents, you will see two data dictionaries: assmntdata and modeldata. This define the metadata fields used for the current open data release. Now, -
Run main.R, 0_build_200class_modeldata.R, and 0_build_200class_assmntdata.R using all the township codes in the Northern Tri @SweatyHandshake can assist. -
Save modeldata and assmntdata as CSV files with filenames like assmntdata_20190701.csv -
Now you have the new data we would like to upload. It has more fields than the old data. You need to compare the fields in the new data to the fields in the old data, and figure out which ones exist in the new but not the old. We need to create dictionary entries for these new fields. -
Once the data dictionary is complete, we can upload the new data to the open data portal, and update the narrative there as well to describe the changes.
UPDATE: In response to a request submitted through the Cook County Open Data Portal,
-
Create 9_create_opendata.R in the code.r folder. This will contain the following work. -
Look at the field names and layout in First Pass Values -
Create a function in R to loop over each township in the current assessment triennial: - Check whether a scope file exists for that township, and is complete for first-pass
- Strip out the fields corresponding to the fields in the open data portal.
- Rename and re-order those fields so that they are consistent with the open data portal.
- Save that data as a CSV on the common drive.
- @erhlango can asisst with this.
-
Execute that function.
@ssmithassessor , FYI I'm planning to update this data online.
