The Centre for Business and Industry Transformation Mobile Data Lab

The CBIT Mobile Data Lab is expected to offer “wild” data collection and modelling as a service. It will open all collected data to encourage multi-disciplinary research projects with practical impact.

The Mobile Data Lab is an interdisciplinary network dedicated to exploring how digital technology can impact the way we address public problems.

We develop innovative materials and formats for collective inquiry involving digital data, digital methods, and digital infrastructures.

The Mobile Lab will take a lean start-up approach by operating many mini-projects from any research theme to develop its services iteratively.

Researcher-led: The Mobile Lab will provide a shared data collection service to all colleagues who wish to pitch mini projects by utilising the lab facilities.

Open data: all mini-projects, data collected, and models rendered will be made openly available to all researchers within our community. The lab technician will maintain the data collection activities and data outputs.

Open Innovation: all mini-project leads must present the project insights, challenges, and opportunities to the wider communities to showcase our capability, attract partners (industry and academia), and encourage extended proposals from related disciplines.

Lab as a Service: maturing through iteration, the data collection and modelling capability will be packaged as a unique “wild” data service to support grant applications.

Groups and organisations we have worked with include CBIT;Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences; Architecture, Design and the Built Environment; Art & Design; Business; Physics and Maths; and Computer Science in NTU.

We gather through our projects, events, and activities. If you’re interested in joining us or contributing to our work, you are welcome to get in touch.
