Feedback how to display elections in the UI
Dev note: Parts of the suggestion below are large changes to implement. Let's discuss this suggestion before proceeding to make changes.
#T10 expanded, Something which has always repelled me is the set of Windows PC terminology invented by Microsoft: “My Documents” “My Pictures” etc. This is simplistic, suitable for mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging lowest-common-denominator users. Note how Apple OSX avoids this unnecessary possessive usage and just has “Documents” and “Pictures”. I like that. Apple has it balanced for the average user.
So, on VotePeer, please consider alternatives i.e. “Your Elections” can be replaced with “Election Central”, elevating the terminology.
Also, in the Webpage we have “Elections you host” and “Elections you are participanting in”
This is better set out into open and ended elections. I suggest this type of layout, e.g.:
“Elections Open For Voting”
- F. Title [Participant] [ends 10 hr 47 min]
- G. Title [Host and Participant] [ends 2 days 12 hr]
“Elections Ended With Results”
- E. Title [Host] [Accept 62%]
- D. Title [Participant] [Reject 87%]
- C. Title [Participant] [Yes 59%]
- B. Title [Host and Participant] [Quorum failed]
- A. Title [Participant] [Yes 66%]
Sorted on expiry date within set. So, open elections are sorted with the earlier expiry date at the top, most future date at the bottom. This is for the reason that least time is available to vote in the top election. Expired elections are sorted with the latest expiry date at the top, oldest at the bottom. Where the user is host, they get extra information/privileges when clicking on that line. I guess most people will only be participants.
