Mempool pre-block convergence.
In a recent livestream from Bitcoin ABC with regards to their roadmap I initated a discussion about graphene and possible block propagation protocols with the intent to see if we could progress the state and converge on a new default for the ecosystem. In the follow-up discussion I learned that while graphene has very good compression, it introduces a small delay by requiring an extra roundtrip before it can start sending data (this is in order to determine a proper IBLT size).
Talking with BU I was informed about a possible solution in the form of a pre-block mempool reconciliation (https://github.com/BitcoinUnlimited/BitcoinUnlimited/pull/1879) and now my questions are:
- Does BCHN also see the added delay as prohibitive to implementing graphene?
- Would BCHN be willing to implement the mempool convergence mechanic?
- Would BCHN be willing to implement the mempool convergence mechanic without graphene?
