This is one of those things that I have known was inaccurate since the beginning. Due to not having a reference to draw from, and knowing it would be a ton of work when there were always so many other outstanding issues and problems to fix, it was always an extremely low priority and one of those issues I thought I would never touch. But now that the game is nearing the point of parity in almost everything, this is basically my "white whale" when it comes to issues. I never realized just how bad the situation was, or rather, just how far away from the original game this port strays. It's always been obvious that the original game uses "loot tables" and this port just generates a random heart or rupee unless an item is specified somewhere else. The ironic thing is, the loot tables are much, MUCH simpler than I ever realized. So simple that I can't believe I never noticed this issue before and can not see it in the same light ever again. It's almost embarrassing that in all the years and the many times I've played Link's Awakening, I never noticed that the vast majority of enemies only ever drop a single item type. Yes, you read that right. Most enemies only drop a "**<ins>_single item_</ins>"**. If you are like me and never realized this, don't beat yourself up over it. The game is well designed in enemy placement, so there is always enough variation so that you are never without an enemy for hearts. If you don't believe me, go play the game and you can verify it yourself. Here are just a few examples: * Octoroks: Rupees * Moblins: Hearts * Zols: Rupees * Keese: Rupees * Crabs: Hearts * Leevers: Hearts * Urchins: Rupees * Goponga Flowers: Hearts This explains so many things. Why sometimes I would be like "why won't the game drop a damn heart?" when I need it. I was just killing the wrong enemy. Or why it seems so much easier to farm rupees in this port than the original game. It's because literally every single enemy can drop them. Obviously I can not read assembly language and the decompilation, but I can try to get what I need using AI, assemble the information into tables, and implement it in my own way.
