Rich Text options do not work in Safari

Describe the problem

When attempting to edit text in a rich-text enabled long text field, the toolbar options and keyboard shortcuts do not work in Safari on a Mac. When you click on the paragraph icon, no options are presented. They perform as expected on Chrome.

Steps to reproduce

1. Double-click a long-text field.
2. Select the text you want to stylize
3. Click on "B" for bold.
4. See that no style has been applied.
5. Select the text again and press CMD+B
6. See that no style has been applied.

Actual result

The text remains plain text.

Expected result

The text is styled.
