time zone of timestamp changes when creating a moveStack
The time zone of the timestamp changes when creating a moveStack, to the timezone of the computer. I understand that it has to be made sure that all individuals have the same timezone. But I'm not really sure that local timezone (of the computer) is the best solution. I think it can be very confusion. Would it be possible to convert all individuals into UTC, and give a warning message that all timestamps have been unified into UTC (i.e. in case the data are not from movebank), when creating a moveStack? This would be much more straight forward.
AntarcticPetrel_GPS_example.csv
library(move)
setwd("/home/anne/PowerFolders/Rstuff/MoveDocumentation/")
fist case, both individuals are in UTC, and the moveStack is in CET
data(leroy)
leroy@timestamps[1]
# "2009-02-11 12:16:45 UTC"
data(ricky)
ricky@timestamps[1]
# "2010-02-09 17:01:23 UTC"
mvstk <- moveStack(list(leroy, ricky))
mvstk@timestamps[1]
# "2009-02-11 13:16:45 CET"
second case, moveStack is in UTC, after spliting the individuals are still in UTC, after restacking they are in CET
mvcsv <- move(paste0(getwd(),"/AntarcticPetrel_GPS_example.csv"))
mvcsv@timestamps[1]
# "2011-12-13 00:22:57 UTC"
mvcsvL <- split(mvcsv)
mvcsvL[[1]]@timestamps[1]
# "2011-12-13 00:22:57 UTC"
mvcsv2 <- moveStack(mvcsvL)
mvcsv2@timestamps[1]
# "2011-12-13 01:22:57 CET"
