Best Practices for Testing
Brain dump:
- Frequently switch between browsers and devices when testing. At the very least, do a browser pass before checking in code. Additionally, you could spend time to setup browsersync to see the site on multiple devices concurrently.
- Frequently resize the browser to look at how the breakpoints shift content. Most use cases will not include a user resizing content, but the result of doing so makes for a smoother experience.
- Do not wait for a ticket to be created to fix an issue. Having an eye for design means being able to apply subtle animations and transitions where none were given, fix usability bugs like screen artifacts, glitches, and alignment issues, and communicate with the team when something feels off. Being able to see these issues unprompted is highly useful and will prevent unnecessary tickets.
- Fix common issues with z-index layering when stacking elements of varying positioning properties.
