We'll use `selws` for determining whether the monitor currently shows
and focuses a scratchpad or not (i.e. it will either point to the
scratchpad or the regular workspace it's showing). The idea is to
simplify quite a bit of code: we don't want to duplicate the "is this
monitor showing a scratchpad?" check in hundred places.
