Discussion GUI Design
During the discussion on 20/03, Vasil, Kees and I reviewed different GUI approaches, based on PocketBase and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) approaches, with reference to Anne's research on guided wizards. Vasil preferred PocketBase for its cleaner interface. Vasil's preference for PocketBase's cleaner interface stemmed from his experience with similar tools like SSMS, where clutter was a common issue. Kees also noted SSMS's clutter but valued its schema visualization. The team proposed a hybrid approach, blending PocketBase's editing style with SSMS's visualization capabilities, including a toggle feature between ERD view and folder structure for editing. They also emphasized the importance of simplicity in the resource editor, with PocketBase offering space for user guidance. The coexistence of both approaches was highlighted, addressing concerns about screen estate and accommodating Kees's preference for PocketBase's cleanliness over SSMS's clutter. Additionally, the ability to upload existing database schemas was discussed as a separate functionality.
