Hi, I'm Andrew 👋
I'm a Customer Success Manager in the Public Sector group at GitLab. In previous decades, I had worked as a research engineer for the United States Department of Defense, focused on leveraging interesting compute to benefit M&S activities. My background is in software, statistics, and infrastructure. I enjoy computing for analytical or creative experiences, enabling others through teaching brings me joy.
Personal Context
I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, am married to my Wife (Ashley), and have two sons (Alasdair (~2), Atticus(~0)). We enjoy that our extended family is mostly in the West Michigan region, and we love our proximity to the lakeshore. The bulk of our time is spent leaning into the young ones curiosity for experiences. We're a single car family living in an automobile dominated society and we attempt to use bikes as much as possible for alternative transportation.
I was an early user of GitLab (coming from Phabricator), have self hosted it for many years, and spent a good deal of time looking in from the outside. I found the open curation of culturally significant artifacts like the handbook to be a compelling model for instancing asynchronous teams while working in public service. I am excited to be a part of the globally distributed team.
Let's chat!
You can use my Calendar to easily initiate a coffee chat. I'm always happy to have a quick chat about GitLab, shared expereinces, and especially far away places.
