Open Case Management (OCM)

Welcome to OCM Documentation!

What's new in 2026

Full feature-by-feature breakdown: Whats-New · per-version index: Release Notes

Current release: v9.31.0 (September 10, 2026). Conflict checks account for the side each party is on. Search finds surname parts, aliases, and all case parties. Settings, document viewing, keyboard access, theme colors, and page loading improve. Optional management roles ship off. See Whats-New and Release Notes for the changes and upgrade details.

Earlier release (v9.29.0, September 6 2026): OCM now works inside Microsoft Teams: notification cards in a channel, a personal tab with your tickles and court dates, a bot that answers "what is due this week" and case-number lookups, and a meeting link on an appointment that flows into templates and SMS reminders. The Teams side is read-only, ethical walls apply, and client names stay off every card unless an organization turns them on. Office and Workspace Add-ins add the hosting surface for Word and Outlook task panes, and an integration can now sign in as a person through a consent screen instead of using an admin's token (Public REST API). Reports gain averages, crosstabs, PDF export, favorites, grouping, and import; a report column can be a Report Formulas such as close_date - open_date. A Tip of the Day can sit on the home dashboard. The admin console names every page the same way everywhere and its dead links are gone (Site Map). Nine latent fatal errors left over from the v9 rewrite are fixed. Everything new is off by default except settings search, which is now on for organizations that already use the Aurora settings shell. See Whats-New.

Since August 27 (v9.19.0 to v9.28.0): Storage-and-Backups lets document files live on a storage volume instead of in the database, with verified backups and encrypted offsite push (v9.25.0). Scheduled Texts become records you can list, reschedule, cancel, and retry, with quiet hours (v9.27.0). The HUD Housing Counseling tab works on a stock install for the first time (v9.27.0). A MegaReport can be sent to a Recurring Report Packs without retyping parameters (v9.26.0). Nine items from the State Bar of New Mexico's upgrade feedback landed together with a platform-operator tier and seat cap (v9.24.0). The calendar can total hours by funding code per pay period (v9.23.0). The MCP Server gained composite tools and semantic document search, and error pages now answer 500 instead of 200 (v9.22.0). Completed tickles can show on the calendar again, plus two security fixes on the message board and clinic sign-ups (v9.21.0). A plain Creating a Contact screen and a contact to community partner bridge (v9.20.0). Cross-tab idle timeout, a secret Custom Fields type, and the Ethical Wall enforced on every case write (v9.19.0). The mileage reimbursement rate is a setting (v9.28.0). Full detail in Release Notes.

Earlier in 2026: Compliance Rules, Message Templates, and the Bulk Updater fed from a report (v9.18.0, August 27); Grant Impact and Systemic Radar (v9.9.0, August 7); the MCP Server and REST API search endpoints (v9.7.0, August 5); the JusticeServer Migration Wizard covering every populated object (v9.6.0, August 2); Quick Time Entry with activity type and funding code (v9.5.0, July 31); the AI Priority To-Do List, background OCR, streaming matter-AI answers, AI Motion Drafter v2, and Audio Transcription v2 (July).

  • Matter AI RAG — case-aware AI on every case screen: summarize, ask (with document retrieval + cited sources), draft email.
  • AI Priority To-Do List — one-click prioritized to-do list over your own open cases, with convert-to-tickler. Hide the panel with the × if you would rather not see it on every Case List.
  • Smart Time — finds the work you did but never wrote a time slip for, and drafts the missing entries for you to accept one at a time. Sits below the to-do panel on the Case List, and collapses the same way.
  • AI Motion Drafter — free-form motion drafting from case facts; .docx filed to Documents on accept.
  • Audio Transcription — transcribe recordings to a case document + note, keeping the source audio.
  • Matter Chronology · Semantic Conflict Check · Knowledge Hubs · Public Intake Agent · AI Quality Monitoring — the rest of the v9 "Casey" AI line.
  • Aurora Chrome — modern UI, now the default. Cmd-K palette, dark / high-contrast themes, three-pane case detail.
  • Casey Chatbot — wiki-grounded helper in the bottom-right corner. Knows the OCM domain, never reads page contents.
  • Client Portal — separate-auth portal at /cms/portal/ for clients to see open cases + upload documents.
  • Workflow Engine — "when X happens, do Y" rules. Triggers on case open / status change / activity create.
  • Office 365 Calendar Sync — pull each staff user's MS calendar into OCM activities (one-way phase-1).
  • Form Autosave — replaces the legacy "are you sure you want to leave?" nag with real server-side draft autosave.
  • Grants Manager — funders, ledgers, manual balance adjustments, per-case eligibility filters, deadlines, indirect cost.
  • HUD Housing Counseling — HUD 9902 / ARM reporting with a submission portal and ARM v6 transmission.
