Email integration with Mayan?

There were atleast couple of queries from clients about integrating email with Mayan so that all attachments from emails can be directly pushed to Mayan and archived.

I had previously checked on zimbra, and found that its possible to integrate Mayan with zimbra using the zimbra API. Similarly there could be ways for google mail to integrate with Mayan. It might be worth exploring.
