Jabber activation doesn't replace a ' with a _

When I activate for phpBB, the ' in my pilot's name Bak'thar is replaced with a _ to become bak_thar.

I have tried to activate my jabber, however in the openfire logs I can see this is not the case for this service as per the following error from my jabber server:
