Other than the direct download method, the only way to update an existing offline maps database is via HERE mobile sdk's.
These can only be used on a PC with an android emulator.
The quickest way to get up and going with this is my pre-build vmware image.

On mac, VMware Fusion would work however it does cost money.
Virtualbox may work on mac/linux but is untested as I've never been able to get it's usb work on Windows.

Kiosk_App
Most android emulators are set up to run games and/or force you to log into google play. We don't need this so I recommend installing a kiosk app to make it easier to use for maps updates.

Follow the youtube to install and run Navdy-MapDownloader to update your maps:

Install the Navdy-MapDownloader and kiosk apk's from above similar to the youtube in windows instructions.
While nox is running, start Navdy Nox Mounter and plug your navdy.
Bind the navdy flash drive to nox like so: https://gitlab.com/navdy-hackers/Navdy-Nox-Mounter/raw/master/preview.gif
Then start Navdy-MapDownloader in nox and use as per the youtube
