As discussed, one of the sub-tasks for the SONiC buildimage project is to reduce dependency on external resources by shifting the build process to use locally cached repositories. This includes hosting required Docker images and Azure-based dependencies locally. To support this, a dedicated server is needed to host a private Docker registry and store these dependencies, ensuring faster, more reliable, and reproducible builds while minimizing reliance on external services.
