Why not compress the rules on disk?
Background / User story
I suddenly found that there was only a few GB of remaining space on the C drive, so I used Treesize to check the disk usage of various software.
I found that one Chrome extension actually takes up more space than the rest of the extensions combined! (82 extensions used 944MB of disk space, and adp used 56.6% of it!)
Using Treesize I found that 95.1% of the disk space is rules.(AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb\4.0.0.1_0\data\rules
)
I found that rules are all JSON TEXT files!
What to change
Why not use a binary format to save json, or just zip it?
I found that simply zipping a JSON can save 60~80% of disk space.
If zip the entire rules folder, can save 86% of disk space. If switch to 7z, it even reaches 94.6%.
