Error when trying to open an EDF+ file

I received an EDF+ file to review that EDFbrowser is unable to open. When I try EDFbrowser shows a popup window with the following content:

Error, file is marked as EDF+ but local patient identification field does not comply to the EDF+ standard:

File is not a valid EDF or BDF file.

The file was anonymized, but this shouldn't be a reason for it to fail, should it?

Is there anything I can do to help fixing the issue?
