- Server (OS name and version): windows
- Special notes regarding the remote system (i.e. gateways, tunnel, etc): sometimes does not support the bit depth chosen
Problem Description
The only use for Quick connect that I can see is a server that is new or rarely connected to. Often (every time for me) it takes many tries to get settings correct for this new server. (The color depth may not be supported or I mis-typed something). When quick connect fails to connect it throws away the entire session. After 4 or 5 tries, quick connect is NOT quick.
Proposed Solution
Perhaps the quick connect dialog should be moved into a regular window (RDP for example) to remove the modal dialogs and allow the data to be saved in the window until a successful connection is made. Messages would be displayed in that same window as the user typed in data. Fingerprint and password dialogs should be moved into the same window. A failure message would be displayed in the same window where a user could see then go back to the data and correct.
A successful connection would replace the quick connect form with a terminal/RDP/VNC window.
