Get More Familiar With 'Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha' (and 'Triangle Heart 3: Sweet Songs Forever') As Needed

(Extracted from #60 (closed).)

There may be some aspects of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (and its source material, Triangle Heart 3: Sweet Songs Forever; see the bottom of this issue OP) that I'll need to become more familiar with for this project; here's what I'm fully familiar with so far:

  • Primary continuity, including supplementary material:

    • Main-line content:
      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, the undifferentiated original series:
        • The main series: I've watched it.
        • 'Sound Stages,' supplementary audio drama CDs*:
          • Nanoha Sound Stage 01, considered an 'episode 2.5' with respect to the main series.

          • Nanoha Sound Stage 02

Considered an 'episode 5.5' with respect to the main series, but it's actually a flashback recapping events that took place two years before the main series begins.

          • Nanoha Sound Stage 03, a bonus 'episode 14' set after the end of the main series.

      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's THE COMICS, a supplementary manga: I haven't read it.
      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's:
        • The main series: I've watched it.
        • 'Sound Stages,' supplementary audio drama CDs*:
          • A's Sound Stage 01, considered an 'episode 3.5' with respect to the main A's series.
          • A's Sound Stage 02, considered an 'episode 6.5' with respect to the main A's series.
          • A's Sound Stage M, considered an 'episode 7.5' with respect to the main A's series.
          • A'S Sound Stage 03, a bonus 'episode 14' set after the end of the main A's series.
      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS THE COMICS, another supplementary manga: I haven't read it.
      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers:
        • The main series: I haven't watched it.
        • 'Sound Stages,' supplementary audio drama CDs*:
          • Strikers Sound Stage M The StrikerS ('sic,') placement unknown.
          • Riot Force 6 on Business Trip!! ~Urgent Search Mission in Uminari City~, considered an 'episode 6.5' with respect to the main StrikerS series.
          • Riot Force 6, Family Portraits, considered an 'episode 14.5' with respect to the main StrikerS series.
          • Wind of the Azure Sky, Flame of the Twilight, considered 'episode 18.5' with respect to the main StrikerS series.
          • Blue Sky, a bonus 'episode 27' set after the end of the main StrikerS series.
          • StrikerS Sound Stage M3, placement unknown.
          • StrikerS Sound Stage X, set 3 years after the end of the main StrikerS series.
          • Holiday Scenery of the Yagamis ('sic,') placement unknown.
      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid:
        • Its original manga iteration: I haven't read it.
        • Its anime adaptation/iteration, covering the manga's first 30 chapters: I haven't watched it.
      • ViVid Strike!: I haven't watched it.
    • In-universe movie continuity supplementary content:
      • Supplementary drama CDs* containing in-universe production commentary:
        • The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st drama CD, parts 'Side-N' (Nanoha) and 'Side-F' (Fate.)
        • The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 2nd A's drama CD, parts 'Side-T' (Testarossa) and 'Side-Y' (Yagami.)
      • The MOVIE 1st's in-universe audio commentary track featuring characters from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.
  • Portable continuity:

Splits off from the primary continuity towards or after the end of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's, but events after those from the entries listed here proceed to happen the same as they do there.

    • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's Portable: The Battle of Aces: I haven't played it.
    • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's Portable: The Gears of Destiny:
      • The game itself: I haven't played it.
      • 'Sound Stages,' supplementary audio drama CDs*:
        • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha GOD Sound Stage M
        • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha GOD Sound Stage A
  • Movie continuity:

    • _Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st_: I haven't watched it.
    • _Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 2nd A's_: I haven't watched it.
    • ORIGINAL CHRONICLE Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The 1st, a supplementary manga: I haven't read it.

Interestingly, these entries also exist in-universe in the primary continuity as historical documentaries retreading events which happened there, albeit with some revisions (including to protect Nanoha's friends Arisa and Suzuka's identities.)

    • The MOVIE 1st is said to serve as an educational/instructional video for TSAB mages.
    • The MOVIE 2nd A's was produced by a TSAB-unadministrated world, probably #97, Earth.

See also the in-universe movie continuity supplementary content listed under this list's section on the primary continuity.

All titles 'sic'/transcribed verbatim with regard to their capitalization and lack of ordinal number designator superscripting.

  • The 'Brave Duel'/INNOCENT continuity, an official school-life and team-based motion-sensing simulation card-battling game AU:

Ignoring the multiple Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: Dark Materials. INNOCENT parody manga series (at least for now,) this consists of:

    • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha INNOCENT:
      • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha INNOCENT, the eponymous social web phone game (Japan-only, I think, and also discontinued:) I've neither played it nor seen footage of people doing so.
      • The companion manga of the same name: I haven't read it.
    • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha INNOCENTS — note the extra 'S' there! —, the sequel manga: I haven't read it.

* As these are only available in Japanese, I haven't listened to them or read any transcripts of them in English fan translation.

Source Material

One or two separate continuities, depending on how you look at things:

  • Triangle Heart 3: Sweet Songs Forever:
    • Its original visual novel iteration: I haven't played it.
      • Its Lyrical Toy Box fan disc's 'Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha' scenario (not canon to the main game, as far as I can tell:) I haven't played it.
    • Its anime adaptation/iteration: I haven't watched it.
