I recently stumbled across this server, been trying it out here and there. It's pretty cool so far.
A couple of bugs/feedback issues to report:
- Training Grounds bugs/feedback
-The Swordsman Guide's quest cannot be completed in the Training Grounds, because she asks you to kill Pickys. Currently in the training area maps, only Super Pickys(Eggshell Pickys) spawn, so it is impossible to complete the quest.
-The Mage Guide's quest(killing Lunatics) will occasionally bug out and cannot be completed until you relog. I am not sure what causes this.
-Currently, Training Grounds maps 2/3, and maps 4/5 are more or less identical. Changing some of the maps to have slightly different monsters would add some diversity, and fix the above bug with the Swordsman Guide quest if Pickys are added.
-There currently is no warning about losing the Tutorial accessories(the ones that give you class skills) when you leave the Training Grounds. Perhaps you could add a warning dialogue at the Test Examiner NPC's at the end of each training map saying you cannot return and you will lose your Tutorial accessory upon leaving.
- Misc feedback
-On the website's Control Panel, the place to find your account's character deletion PIN is not intuitive. In fact, many of the Control Panel features, while awesome, are somewhat complex to understand at first glance. Is there a tutorial or FAQ for the CP somewhere?
-IMPORTANT: The map database used by this server appears to be based off of iROwiki's Classic Database here: http://db.irowiki.org/classic/
This is problematic for two reasons. First, iRO Classic does not actually use 'classic' monster spawns. Most maps on iRO Classic were heavily modified by the GM team there during a period from August-October 2012, and are extremely custom(I can provide links if necessary). Many of the changes were quite unpopular(although some maps were popular with the changes), and as a result, iRO Classic changed many of their maps to reflect Episode 13.2 spawns(similar to the ones on RateMyServer's database) sometime in mid-2013. However, iROwiki's Classic Database was never updated to reflect this change, as noted here: http://forums.irowiki.org/showthread.php?t=104519
As a further aside, Doddler's Classic map database was also edited in July 2012 to reflect some(but not all) of the iRO Classic changes, and should not be used as an authentic map database either. Note the differences between these two map databases:
The 'original' Ep.5 spawns: https://web.archive.org/web/20120704054011/http://rode-r.doddlercon.com/maps/worldmap_ep5
The 'modified by iRO Ep.5 spawns as of July 2012: http://rode-r.doddlercon.com/maps/worldmap_ep5/
I'm not sure whether your server's vision is to try for an authentic, nostalgic experience, or to emulate iRO Classic. In either case, the database currently being used does not do one or the other currently. Keep in mind that RO map databases underwent significant changes between Ep.5(Yuno) and Ep.6(Amatsu), as well as a few miscellaneous changes in later episodes the documentation of which I'd have to dig up somewhere.
