Crash on leaving the prison ship
Hi!
I have a small cheap laptop, and I wanted to see if it runs OpenMW. I didn't really expect it to, but it runs really well, you've done some great work! One problem is, the game crashes in many cases. Some cases that I'd encountered are:
- Fast travel using a silt strider;
- Saving the game;
- Resting;
- Calling
coc
from the console, including "Imperial Prison Ship", an interior cell; - Trying to leave the imperial prison ship.
If I start from the default cell with the default character, then run to Seyda Neen by foot, entering various locations, talking to people, bartering, stealing things, selling these things to their owners, fighting the said owners with sword and magic, managing the inventory, the game works splendidly, but once I enter the prison ship and then leave, or ask for a ride, the game crashes.
Steps to reproduce:
- Have my laptop with Arch Linux installed.
- Install the latest OpenMW from the Arch repositories (
0.45.0
). - Download the game from GOG, unpack it with
innoextract
. The directory I unpacked the game to is/home/rouanth/.local/share/morrowind
, so no weird characters in the path. - Remove
~/.config/openmw
if present. - Run
openmw-launcher
. - Run the installation wizard.
Next
.Existing installation
.Browse
. Navigate to the unpacked directory, selectData Files/Morrowind.esm
.Next

without unchecking the import options,Finish
. -
Play
, without setting anything. -
New
. - Start playing... try to open the hatch. The game crashes and prompts me to contact you, or just crashes with a segfault and no prompt.
Another way to reproduce the crash:
- Start with the default cell.
-
~
,coc Balmora
.
Running to Balmora by foot works fine.
