OpenMW 0.49 RC3 is not being responsive

  • Is the problem OpenMW specific or does it also happen in vanilla Morrowind? Only specific to OpenMW.

  • What is your operating system? Windows 11.

  • What version of OpenMW are you using? If you used a bleeding edge build, state the exact revision used. 0.49 RC3.

  • What version of Morrowind are you using (i.e. retail CD or Steam)? What addons (Tribunal, Bloodmoon) do you have installed? What language is your Morrowind install? Game of the Year edition on Steam. Installed in English.

  • Do you use any mods? If so, does the problem also occur in a clean vanilla install without any mods? Yes, I use mods. Also, the problem only happens With 0.49 RC3. Version 0.48 works just fine. These are my mods: https://i.imgur.com/YkmjbLG.png

  • What are the exact steps to reproduce the problem? The 0.49 RC3 version doesn't open anymore when I click on it; Neither the launcher nor the game. Weirdly enough, the 0.48 version works just fine, and so did the 0.49 version until it just randomly stopped working. I have tried reinstalling it twice; once in programfiles, and the second time in the Morrowind folder itself, but to no avail. I also tried removing all the meshes to see if that fixed it, since the problem started after I installed the meshes, but again to no avail. So basically, it worked for several hours while I tested mods etc., and then after I installed some meshes (Atlas and the Optimization mod), it never opened again. I also verified the integrity of the game files, but it didn't work either.

  1. I double-click "openmw.exe" or "openmw-launcher".
  2. Something is loading for one second.
  3. Nothing happens.

  • What did you expect to happen? What happened instead? I expected OpenMW to open like normal, but instead it's just being totally unresponsive.

  • Are there any error messages in your openmw.log file? If you're not an OpenMW team member, it's best to upload it. I don't have any file with that name.

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8250U 1.60GHz
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce 940MX
  • RAM: 8GB
  • SSD: 256gb

EDIT: Just reinstalled Morrowind and installed the new RC4 version instead. I have also made sure that Windows Defender isn't interfeering in anything. Still doesn't work.

EDIT 2: I fixed it! Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable broke for some reason, so I had to repair it. I just downloaded the app, and then it opened up (I think it was already installed, but broken), I pressed "Repair", restarted my computer and then it worked.
